Christmas is coming! However, unfortunately, either side of that sit a few months of rain, cold and grey skies. The weather reports are predicting three months of snow in some cases – a prospect that has most reaching for the thermostat. If you can’t quite hack the cold and are pining after some sunshine, then why not book a last minute winter sun holiday. Tenerife is a top choice given its warm climate and lively atmosphere, and there are many great Tenerife holidays available for this winter.

The average temperature in Tenerife between October and February is 23 degrees, a huge difference to the minus figures in the UK. There are also a good 6 hours a day of sun, a nice relief for those who have been getting used to going to work in the dark and leaving in the dark. It may rain a little during your stay in the winter, but if it does at all it will be minimal, and still very warm so often a welcome relief from the sunshine!

While on holiday in Tenerife there are many exciting things to do. One must-do is a trip up Mount Teide through the mountain villages, pine forests and even clouds. The highest point is 3718 metres above sea level, and it is the highest peak in all of Spain. At the top you can enjoy the National Park, or continue your ascent by cable car to the very peak. You should also spend some time in the southern beach region of the island, which are almost moonlike in appearance due to the volcanic nature of the area. Here you can enjoy many water sports and activities, or just simply relax on volcanic sand.

If you are looking to escape the big chill then there is no better place than Tenerife. With its unique space-like landscape and fantastic facilities a break here is a real break from reality as well as the weather.
